Bespoke kitchens in Doncaster, made in our own workshop

Every DCL kitchen is drawn, built and fitted by us, from a workshop on Bootham Lane in Dunscroft. The people who make it are the people who come and install it.

Most kitchen companies in Doncaster sell you someone else’s cabinets

They take an order, pass it to a factory in the Midlands or Germany, and send a fitter to assemble what turns up on the lorry. It is a perfectly good way to buy a kitchen. It is just not what we do.

We make ours. The carcasses, the doors, the drawers, the odd-shaped filler that has to go round a chimney breast in a 1930s semi. That is the whole difference, and it shows up in the bits nobody photographs: a cabinet built to the wall you actually have rather than the wall a catalogue assumed.

DCL has been making kitchens in Dunscroft for over twenty years, and in that time we have fitted them across Doncaster, out to Thorne and Epworth, and down to Bawtry and Tickhill.

Have a look inside the workshop, or read how a kitchen gets from a drawing to your house.

What it costs, before you ring anybody

Nobody local publishes a price. We looked: not one kitchen company in Doncaster puts a number on its website, so every enquiry starts with a homeowner who has no idea whether they are talking about ten thousand pounds or sixty.

That is a daft way to start, for you and for us. So here is the range, and a page that breaks down what moves it.

The figures below are illustrative placeholders for this concept site. DCL's real bands go in before it goes live.

From first drawing to the last handle

Six stages. Nothing gets cut until you have signed off a drawing with real dimensions on it.

  1. We come and measure
An hour at your house, tape measure out. We survey the room as it is, including the bits that are out of square, because they nearly always are. Free, and there is nothing to sign.
  2. You get a drawing and a price
A plan and elevations with dimensions, and an itemised price with the units, worktops, appliances and fitting listed separately so you can see what each part is costing you. Usually within a week of the survey.
  3. We change it until it is right
This is the part that takes the longest and it should. Moving a larder 200mm on paper costs nothing. Moving it after the carcass is cut costs a carcass.
  4. We build it
Cabinets, doors, drawers and end panels, made in Dunscroft to the signed drawing. Painted finishes are sprayed in the workshop and touched in on site. Six to eight weeks from sign-off.
  5. We fit it
The same people, in your house. Old kitchen out, new one in, worktops templated once the units are level and fitted afterwards. Around a fortnight for a typical kitchen.
  6. We come back
Doors settle and paint marks. We come and adjust hinges and touch in anything that needs it once you have lived with it a few weeks. Guarantee: ten years on cabinetry.

Where we work

The workshop is in Dunscroft, so most of what we do is within half an hour of it: Doncaster and its villages, out east through Thorne to Epworth, Crowle and Goole, and south to Bawtry, Tickhill and Retford.

We will travel further for the right job. If you are outside that and you like what you see, ring and ask.
