About kitchens, prices and how we work
Twelve questions, in roughly the order people ask them.
How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?
A DCL kitchen supplied and fitted runs from £14,000 for a painted shaker galley to £45,000 and beyond for a large in-frame kitchen in solid timber. Worktops and appliances are on top.
The prices page breaks it down properly, including what is in the figure and what is not.
Do you make the kitchens yourselves?
Yes. Carcasses, doors, drawers and end panels are all made in our workshop in Dunscroft. Hinges, runners, worktops and appliances are bought in, and the workshop page lists exactly which is which.
How long from order to finished kitchen?
Six to eight weeks in the workshop after you sign the drawing, then around a fortnight fitting. Add the design stage on the front, which takes as long as you need.
Is the design and quotation free?
Yes, including the survey, the drawings and as many revisions as it takes. There is nothing to sign until you order.
Do you have a showroom?
We have a working workshop rather than a showroom. You are welcome to come and see kitchens being built, which tells you more than a display bay does. Ring first so somebody is expecting you.
What guarantee do I get?
Ten years on the cabinetry and two years on moving parts like hinges and runners. Appliances carry their own manufacturer’s warranty.
Will you take the old kitchen out?
Yes, and dispose of it. That is included in the fitting price.
Do you fit kitchens bought from somewhere else?
No. We only fit what we make. The reasoning is on the installation page.
Can I paint it any colour?
Any colour. Bring a Farrow & Ball card, a Little Greene chip or a photograph of your hallway and we will match it in the spray booth.
How far do you travel?
Most of our work is within half an hour of the Dunscroft workshop, which covers Doncaster and its villages, out to Thorne, Epworth and Goole, and down to Bawtry, Tickhill and Retford. The full list is here, and we will go further for the right job.
Do you do utility rooms and boot rooms?
Yes, and they are usually cheaper per metre than a kitchen because there is less door detail and no worktop cut-outs. Most people have them done at the same time as the kitchen while the fitters are already in the house.
What happens if something goes wrong after it is fitted?
Ring us. We are ten minutes from most of the kitchens we have fitted and the person who answers will know the job. A door that has dropped or a drawer running stiff gets sorted on a visit, not a claims process.
Still got a question?
The quickest answer is usually a phone call. You will get somebody who makes kitchens rather than a call centre.
